Well, it is August 28, 2012, and...umm...homeschooling has not begun! I have become very familiar with the question, "When are you starting?" My response is always, "I'm not sure!" It used to bother me that all our friends' kids had started school, and P and P haven't started yet. Don't get me wrong, I believe that every day is an opportunity to learn, I'm just talking about the official book work stuff. Now, it's not so much a bother, but I've become very anxious to start! For myself though, there's some things that need to fall into place though before I'll feel complete enough to start! (Weird, I know!)
Our summer has gotten a tad crazy with the vacation and birthday shebangs at the end of the summer, so close to "school" starting, that school prep took the back burner. The day we got home I ordered some stuff online for my school prep, special markers for the boys' first day of school gifts, a laminator, some posters, and a few other things. M has been working mad to prep the "schoolroom". He has been mudding and sanding the walls, and just finished painting the ceilings. After a week of searching for paint colors, and themes for the room (the whole basement) we finally, last night, came up with colors! M went and bought them before I could change my mind!
I'm so upset that I never took "before" pictures, but I will catch some "during" and "after" pics and post them when I can. The neat thing is that since we are using the whole basement as our "space", we have stations! We have an area for art, a cubbie corner for our reading nook. A section for our geography area. M will be painting with the new chalkboard chalk on one of the walls. We have an area for the actual paperwork part of our day too. I'm sure we'll be using a lot of outdoor space, and working quite a bit in the kitchen! I am beyond excited to start!! I spent my afternoon yesterday cutting out some things I had laminated, and then I planned out our schedule for September and lesson planned! Ahhhh....paint faster M, paint faster!!
