Life Goes On

So today, Peyton and I had some alone time. I saw a bird that got hit by a car and took him to see it. I'm not sure why, other then he's a boy...hmm, that doesn't sound right now. I think I must have had a momentary lapse of judgement. As we got closer to the bird, I realized that it was a bad idea, and started to turn back. Peyton followed and never mentioned anything of it.

Tonight at bedtime he started to tell his daddy about it. Then we started our devotion. This is how the devotion started:

"The children are sad because a little bird died." Amazing! Here's the rest of the devotion: "We all feel sad when an animal dies. We're even sadder when people die, because we can't see them anymore. But when people die, only their body dies. the soul inside of them does not die. Jesus tells people to believe in him. Then, after they die, their soul will get a new body and live forever with Jesus in heaven."

Peyton went on to talk about what he learned in this devotion. "So, when the birdie got hit by a car and died, he went to heaven, Jesus fixed him up, gave him a Band-aid and now he's flying all over heaven!" We continued to talk about heaven and death, to which he commented that he can't wait to go to heaven to see Jesus, because he loves Jesus so much! We talked about how GiGi is in heaven and that Jesus gave her a new body, and she's perfect! We talked about angels and said that GiGi is a beautiful angel looking out for him all the time. He said that she's with him at school, when we can't be with him! He said that when he gets to heaven he's going to tell GiGi a secret. I asked him what he was going to tell her and he said that he was going to tell her "I love Jesus, GiGi!"

Jesus, said, "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die like everyone else, will live again. John 11:25

The ending prayer for the devotion was "Jesus, I know your promise is true. When we die, we will be with you."

It amazes me how God works...like how this devotion went along with the bird in the street today. A few weeks ago, the boys were praying for their baby cousin who was sick. Peyton prayed first that Jesus would take away his cough, and help him not to be sick anymore. He prayed that Jesus would give him medicine and that he would start to feel better. Parker prayed that Jesus would make him better, and that he would stop coughing. My children have a heart for prayer, and it amazes me the prayers that they come up with on their own! The Spirit definitely works in their lives, and gives them the words to say! That night the devotion was about praying for others! Amazing, God, just amazing!!
