Let's Play Catchup!
Wow, it's been over a year! That's sad, Courtney, just sad! Take a walk down memory lane with me! Pictures stop at the end of June, the computer wouldn't download anymore so I'll have to catch up from there later on!
Parker Adam was welcomed into the world on August 26, 2008! He was smaller then Peyton and longer too! Peyton wasn't too sure about the whole big brother thing, but warmed up to it pretty quickly. Parker was on phototherapy for a few days to clear up some jaundice that he had. He went to his first Labor Day parade at about a week old! He attended the first 2008 Husker game at a home party due to being on the lights.
Peyton, Parker and I took a trip to Des Moines with grandma for a weekend of shopping. We did this in the new minivan! Yes, we broke down and got a minivan in September of last year. I definitely have a love hate relationship with it! I love the sliding doors though!
We enjoyed our yearly tradition of visiting the pumpkin patch in town here! It's my favorite time of year, and I wasn't about to miss it (even with a newborn!). Peyton dressed up as Elmo last year for Halloween! He was loving it! Parker was a moo-cow! Very fitting I think!
We spent our Thanksgiving with family friends and Parker sure enjoyed his first turkey via mommy a little later!
Peyton John, who is not a fan of Santa, threw fits anytime he saw someone with a white beard or a red outfit! Parker on the other hand could have cared less about who was holding him!
Matt and I took the boys up to Minnesota for a family members wedding in December. It was great seeing some of Matt's family and for them to all meet Parker Adam! We ended up getting stranded there another day because of a HUGE snowstorm!
The boys loved the snow this winter too!
In February Matt and I went to Mexico on a "work" trip with Matt's company. It was an amazing time away from "life"! We spent so much time relaxing, sleeping, eating and being catered to on our free trip! Who wouldn't? Of course we spent a lot of time missing the boys and I racked up quite a cell phone bill! I have quite a few interesting stories about breast pumps, customs, dirty bathrooms, and pumping in airplanes if you're interested?! :) Parker also started sitting up while we were gone.
The spring for us was wonderful. The weather was great and watching my boys bloom and grow and discover new things about the world around them just doesn't get old! We purchased a swing set for the boys this spring as well! They love it! Peyton and I even had a "rain picnic" in the fort one rainy afternoon!
Matt and Peyton took a "father-son" camping/fishing trip for kids out of diapers! (WOO HOO! Peyton was potty-trained this spring! So wonderful!) They had SO much fun and Peyton at 2 was already starting with his "fish stories"!
Our summer weather wise was PERFECT! We only had one day of 100 degree weather! My kind of summer. The boys and I spent some time at the local splash pads getting wet for free! Always good when you're an at-home-mom! We also visited the zoo, and did a lot with our playgroups!
In June, Matt and I took our first vacation alone with the boys. We did a weekend trip to Des Moines for Adventureland and shopping! Peyton and Parker had so much fun, and we were quite impressed with how much each of them got to do! Putting Parker in the boat was quite scary, but for some reason the 16 year old boy manning the gate telling me it was fine to put him in made me do it! We had a great time too in the hotel pool! ;) Now every time the Adventureland commercial comes on Peyton starts screaming to come in and watch it with him. He will go through each of the rides shown and say "I did that!" "Daddy do that!" "I watched that!" "Daddy did that with me!" "I went there!" It is so funny and adorable and after the millionth time a little annoying but precious in every way!!
Peyton became VERY obsessed with baseball this summer! He's AWESOME! I know every mom says that, but seriously he can hit without a tee as you pitch it! WE took him to his first CWS game! He loved it and spent a good amount of time telling me be quite and stop taking his picture, that's how into the game he was!
